This passage takes on a special significance, with the coronation of Charles III fresh in our minds.
It is from this passage that Deuteronomy – second law – gets its name. (Deuteronomy 17:18 – 20) 

The King was to _______________________________________________________ 

God permitted his people to appoint a King by way of concession.
The best alternative was not to appoint a King at all because _____________________________________________________________________ Even so there were conditions.____________________________________________ 

If we assess the kings they appointed by these criteria, most of them fail miserably. 538 years later we don’t find a prosperous nation. Now they are a subjugated people group on the edge of the Roman map. Why?

Yet a King was coming who would perfectly fulfil these criteria – even more!
His Name is ___________________________________________________________ If you want to choose a king wisely choose Him, and choose life. (Romans 10:9-10) Most Australians have chosen a different king over their lives, the king of _____________________________________________________________________ This choice will fragment our society, bringing neither prosperity nor peace. 

God’s law is still in place (Deuteronomy 4:5 – 6)
Christianity is objective. It is based on real events which happened in a real history. 

Modern Australians authenticate truth by means of their ________________________ 

We are to teach God’s truth to our children and grandchildren (Deuteronomy 4:9 – 10)
We must show them that making Jesus their King is the most important thing they can do.
